The Village

On the island there are no hotels, “pensioni”, guest houses, bed and breakfast, or camp grounds; there are about 100 mini-apartments, some villas, a few restaurants (one of which is temporarily closed) and one grocery store that is open only during the summer months.

There are daily boat trips from the mainland to the island during summer months and only three trips per week during the rest of the year.

It is possible to say that not having frequent transportation connections is in one sense a price to pay in order to appreciate this natural oasis.

If you are in search of a high society, or very active night life, of confusion, amusement and entertainment, it will not be found on Giannutri!

Instead, if you are searching for silence, sun, sea, the singing of birds, and natural scents of the wild brush vegetation, therefore Giannutri is the place for you.

The everyday lifestyle is very simple and healthy, particularly suitable for who is interested in sports, for who loves nature and for children, who can play freely without the risk of cars, or traffic because no autos are allowed on the island.

The village is located at Cala Spalmatoio, above the dock where the boat arrives from the mainland, where there is also a small pier for docking private boats, and one of the only two sandy beaches on the island.
