PUNTA SAN FRANCESCO 

This area is found at the extreme Eastern part of the island, facing “Argentario” and “Ansedonia, and the area of the royal sea gulls have their habitat.

After having past “Piana dei Fagiani” near the Tourist Village, the road for Punta San Francesco follows the coast up to Punta San Francesco. it is possible to arrive there by way of a steep path, but paying good attention at the pointed rocks. Here the sea is the color of emerald.

All along the path there are plants and wild vegetation, that gives europhic state of an ideal refuge for rabbits and seagulls, myrtle, juniper and gigantic aloe plants.

A truly must, before arriving to Punta San Francesco, it is above ”Cala dello Scoglio” (known also as “Cala delle Vergini”) where it is possible to enjoy a breath-taking view of the bay, the natural area that is most protected by environmental laws.

Towards the end opens a strip of land that extends to the sea is Punta San Francesco that is the natural habitat for  thousands of royal sea gulls of Giannutri.

Attention…Do not disturb them!!!!
