MARINE PARK

The island of Giannutri has been declared as a Marine Park in order to preserve its rich natural wealth form the risk of urbanistic and marine wildlife plundering. So therefore, it is particularly protected and controlled by the Authority.

The marine area is divided in two protected areas:

Zone 1 is a completely reservered protected area and Zone 2 has a general form of protection.

MARINE PARK RULES

In Zone 1

it is prohibited the crossing of boats with outboard or motors; including docking, anchoring in any form.
it is prohibited to fish or any other form of fishing that could damage sealife and marine plantlife.
it is permitted to swim and snorkelling.

In Zone 2:

It is prohibited to fish and scuba-diving fishing.
It is permitted and allowed for residents to fish with fishing poles and drop-line fishing, for non-residents it is necessary to have permision from the marine authority.
It is permitted to dock boats with motors in the bay for a night in the area of Cala Maestra and Cala Spalmatoio (Tourist village).
