On the other side of Cala Spalmatio is the Tourist Village it is Cala Maestra (named for the reason that it inspires the mistral winds), with a beautiful small beach and pier for a tourist docking on the island. In this area is the major archeological site on Giannutri, with the “rooms”, that are apart of the walls of the restaurant “la Taverna dal Granduca”, and ancient dock, and it is here that it is possible to enter the Roman Villa. Cala Maestra represents an extrodinary combinition of an uncontaminated natural environment from the past, where it is possible to reach a very suggestive panorama of the island Giglio, and as far as to the island of Montecristo on a clear day with good visibilty. |
